No Limit for In-Person or Computer Play

As you may be aware, the advent of “social distancing” and “sheltering-in-place” has placed unprecedented demands on Internet Service Providers and the infrastructure that supports the World Wide Web. Anyone with an online service is now facing performance challenges during peak periods. DartConnect is no exception.

On Friday 27 March 2020, we introduced a new architecture to address the dramatic increase in on-line match play. However, we will need several days to properly scale this solution. As a precaution, we are temporarily implementing a limit for the number of concurrent on-line matches. This limit comfortably exceeds our current peak periods. However, in the event of a “surge”, this function is designed to protect live matches.

Should DartConnect reach maximum on-line capacity, a request for a Connect Code will be declined. Match turnover is rapid and we encourage members to try again after a short period. This “limit” does NOT affect in-person match play or matches against the DartConnect computer. We appreciate your patience and will be removing this constraint as soon as possible.

If you are participating in a league with teams of 4 or more players, you now have access to your own practice group! No need to limit your darts to league night. Now you can prepare throughout the week by scrimmaging with your teammates in-person or online. Simply log into league play from the DartConnect Welcome Screen and look for your Team!

Covid-19 Announcement: Most leagues have had to suspend or cancel their current season. DartConnect is actively working with all team leagues to make this program available during this period, so even if you can’t meet in-person, you can still interact with teammates on-line. All that is required is for your league to be current with all DartConnect invoices. If you cannot access your team practice group, please contact your league for more information.

Groups will be able to play the following match format:

Unlimited sets with “best of” any number of legs
Choose from shooting for bull, coin toss, random or any method to start the first leg
All remaining legs will be alternate start
Choose from the following games for any set: 301 DIDO, 501 SIDO or Cricket

To Webcam or Not To Webcam?

Using a webcam (or mobile device) to share you dartboard can enhance the experience, but should NOT be considered a requirement for experimenting with online play. Learn More

Pro Tip: When using voice chat only, be sure to converse, calling out your scores, along with the occasional shout or groan!

Keep in mind that streaming of any kind (movies, music video games, and video chat) crowds the bandwidth servicing your home, and can affect your stream.

Pro Tip: DartConnect has been designed for very low bandwidth consumption. Should you experience slowness, consider running the scoring app on a mobile hotspot, independent of the traffic in your household.
